New project in Sweden

The Swedish steel producer Ovako Sweden AB awarded Ferretti Construction for the Hot Rolling Mill foundations revamping at their plant located in Hällefors, Örebro County.

Ovako Sweden AB is a European manufacturer of engineering steel for customers in the bearing, transportation and manufacturing industries. Since 2018, Ovako has been owned by Nippon Steel Corporation. The production is based on recycled scrap and includes steel in the form of bar, tube, ring and pre-components.

Supplier of the new equipment is POMINI Long Rolling Mills: the main project scope consists in partially replacing the existing roughing train with four housing-less RedRing series 5 stands arranged in horizontal/vertical configuration, complete with gear reducing units; new shearing equipment is also supplied.

Scope of Ferretti Construction is the foundations revamping using its Fast-Track Revamping technology: thanks to the design-build solution of the pre-assembled foundations blocks, the new foundations will be realized in 10 calendar days. The outage is scheduled for July 2023.

Ferretti Construction is already active in the Swedish market: in summer 2022 has completed the installation of a New Flue Gas Condenser in Eskilstuna and from April 2023 will start the installation of a New WESP (Wet ElectroStatic Precipitators) Vessel in Aspabruk, Sweden, in partnership with the Technological Supplier AWS Corporation Srl.

The acquisition of OVAKO’s project represent a further step to strengthen the presence of Ferretti Construction in the Nordic Countries.
